Biography
James Terence Smith (20 June 1902 – 1975), also known as Jimmy Smith or J. T. Smith, was a Scottish centre-forward who played for Ayr United from 1927 to 1929. He is best remembered for scoring a remarkable 66 goals in 38 appearances during the 1927–28 Scottish Division Two season, a British record for a single league season. He later joined Liverpool in 1929 after his prolific spell at Somerset Park.
